Random Stuff

January 23rd, 2006

A few random things …

Does anyone want a kitchen scale who lives in town? I’d like to get one and shipping is free on orders over $59. They would be $24.95 no shipping and no tax. These are a must have for anyone watching what they eat. CalorieFreak lets you specify all kinds of sizes and portions but the only one that is gauranteed to be available for any food item is grams. It is also the most accurate way to enter exactly what you eat. Not only that, its fun to find out more and tear down your assumptions. You’ll be amazed that you are really eating 3-4 servings when you think you are only having one. Anyways, check them out in all 11 colors here.

Also, our projector bulb went out. It actually didn’t go completely out but it now says “replace lamp” when we turn it on. From what I could find on Google, that means we have less than 100 hours left on it. I then swapped bulbs and put in the one from our backup projector (that I got just for this purpose) and now it says the same darn thing. So I guess we have 200 hours left and have to wait 3 mintues each time we turn it on for the annoyhing message to go away. In the mean time, we’ll save up for this bad boy. It’s not likely we can ever get that one but it would be nice. Its going for $1,800 right now. Perhaps it will drop in price in the next 6 months and our bulbs might last that long.

New Video Method

January 19th, 2006

I am trying yet another video method to find the best way to share videos with you guys. This time I am using a brand new DIVX browser plugin that should automatically work for all Windows and Mac users. Linux users will still be able to see it if they are using the mplayerplug-in. It may pop up a window asking you if it is ok to install the Divx plugin. Say yes. You will only have to do that once.

Please comment and say whether it works for you and what operating system you use.

Random Stuff

December 14th, 2005

A few random things:

Does anyone have an x10 receiver I can borrow? I know some of you ordered some of those firecracker starter kits with me. I have lots of left over x10 stuff but I cannot use it because I can’t find my receiver.

We’re looking for a temporary home for a full sized bed. We don’t have room for it but don’t want to get rid of it. If you could use it, let us know.

Wolves or Coyotes in Madison

December 14th, 2005

I saw a pack of brown wolves/coyotes on the way to work. I called Erin and she got some pictures of them. Take a look at them. Do you think they are wolves or coyotes? I want to think they are wolves becuase it is more exciting. They are about the size of Seiko.

Here is a google map of the location.

Please use Skype

July 31st, 2005

For anyone who doesn’t know, you should try out Skype. Basically, it is like instant messenger but with voice chat in addition to text chat. The only way it will be usefull to us is if the people that we want to talk to are actually on it. Please download it and try it out. You can search for us by name to add us to your list.

What makes it much more unique than just what I stated before is that it actually works! Most Internet applications like this that I have tried don’t work well. This is an exception. I’ve tried it on 3 computers in my house and it works great on all of them. No messy manual configuration or anything.

Talk to you soon (on Skype).

Broken Thing

July 22nd, 2005

While mowing the grass today I broken the top off of some sort of pipe in our yard. I don’t know what it is or what it is for. I would assume it is something to do with water. Anyone know what this is?

16:9 home videos

July 2nd, 2005

We are testing making our home videos available in 16:9 aspect (widescreen). That way when TV’s haven’t been standard aspect for all of Tru’s life she will be able to watch them in a format better for the TV’s of the future.

Please play our video and let us know if it looks correct (not squashed) for you! It should look wide like the picture to the right of this text, not like the other pictures below.

Plea for Car Stereo Equipment

April 17th, 2005

If anyone has or knows someone who has any car stereo equiptment that they want to give away or sell at a great price, then please let me know. My factory car stereo barely gets AM and is horrible in general. Recently, one of my rear speakers blew.

I’d be interrested in any of the following:

(1) CD Player / Head unit

(2) Amp

(3) 6-1/2″ – 6-3/4″ speakers

(4) 6×9″ speakers

Let me know!

Michael
