Congrats Adria and John!

July 12th, 2006

Congratulations to Adria and John! Twins Ethan and Aiden were born this morning around 2:00 AM!

John is uploading pictures from the hospital. Click Here!

Adria was due August first, but as she was expecting twins, it was expected that she would undergo a planned caesarian sometime soon after Monday, July 24th. Ethan and Aiden didn’t want to wait though! Adria went into labor on Tuesday night and the boys were born by caesarian on Wednesday morning!

Aiden was 5 pounds 10 ounces and 18 inches and Ethan was 7 pounds 2 ounces 19 inches. Ethan is still in NICU with slight breathing problems, but Aiden has been cleared to stay in the normal nursery and with his parents when possible!

I have only seen Aiden so far, but I’m sure Ethan is just as beautiful as his brother!

Calling all WCHS Alumni!

June 1st, 2006

I was looking for a website that the Class of 2000 grads were using to keep up with each other, and found that the only one anyone is using is Classmates.com, which costs money. I find that ridiculous, so I made my own! This is not only for 2000 grads, but anyone who graduated from WCHS since it first opened its doors! Just go to WayneCountyHighAlumni.com and add yourself. There are simple instructions on the first page, and I’m going to add a forum/bulletin board soon! Send this to everybody you know who went to WCHS. I’m really looking forward to getting back in touch with everyone!

Balloon Show

May 27th, 2006

We went to the Decatur hot air balloon show tonight. We were late, got rained on, and there was lots of traffic. Despite all of this, we had a good time!

We took some pictures (mostly of Adam, Mara, and Abby). Tru had a wonderful time. She splashed and played in the puddles, ran all around, saw horses, and played with balloons.

Here are the pictures.

Halloween

October 31st, 2005

Trick-or-Treat! Well, Tru had her first halloween experience. She’ll always be able to remember this wonderfull night as a cold, itchy experience that makes everyone say “awww”.

We actually had lots of fun. Our neighbors invited us on a trick-or-treat hayride round the neighborhood. Using a tractor, the hayride took all the kids around, stoping every 5 houses or so. It was pretty cold.

Pictures are here.

RIP John R. Hall

October 13th, 2005

I stumbled on a sad fact today. An acquaintence of mine from Georgia Tech died on September 17th from cancer at age 24. He was a regular attendee at the Georgia Tech Linux User Group that I was vice president of (for a short while). I remember him well as being very nice, smart, and very impressive. He wrote a book called Programming Games in Linux. His website is here and his blog about his fight with cancer is here.

A noteworthy quote from his blog is:

We’re all mortal. And yet a lot of us live like we’re immortal. Days come and go, and we assume they’ll keep on coming. There is no sense of urgency. We treat time like water; so cheap that we can pour it on the ground. Most of us have a vague sense that we’ll eventually die, but it’s not something we tend to think about often. We assume that we’re entitled to our 75 years, which invariably seems like it’s a long way off, so we forget about it and go back to our day to day routine.

– John R. Hall

He died of Melanoma. His blog urges everyone to go get any worrisome moles checked out. I am passing this on to you by recommending that all of you go get yours checked out! He said that his was about a centimeter and bled a little.

:-(
